Sindh Board Matric Syllabus, Matric Syllabus Sindh Board, Education and Literacy Department Sindh. Streamlined to 75% for Smarter Learning.
The Education and Literacy Department Sindh has announced significant changes for the upcoming academic year. The new academic session will begin on April 1, 2025, marking a shift from the previous start date of August 1. These changes, made by the Sindh Education Department, aim to align the academic calendar more effectively with the needs of students and educational institutions.
Matric Syllabus Sindh Board: Revised and Reduced

In response to this shift in the academic schedule, the Sindh Board Matric Syllabus will undergo a reduction. The syllabus for the current academic session will be reduced by 25%. Accordingly, the annual exams for matriculation and intermediate and exams for classes 1 to 8 will now be based on only 75% of the original syllabus. This decision was finalized by the steering committee of the Sindh Education Department during a meeting in late November, with the formal notification issued on December 5th 2024.

Summer Holidays: Students will have summer holidays from June 1 to July 31, allowing them to prepare for the next academic phase.
Education and Literacy Department Sindh: Strategic Changes
The primary goal behind these changes is to streamline the educational process in Sindh, especially in light of the shift in the academic session. This shift aims to reduce academic disruptions and ensure that students continue to make uninterrupted academic progress.
Furthermore, the Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment, and Research (DCAAR) will distribute the reduced syllabus to all relevant stakeholders by December 15, ensuring that students, boards, and institutions have enough time to prepare.
Aligning Academic Calendars with Higher Education
The committee also noted the importance of aligning the academic calendar with university schedules. For instance, many universities announce scholarship programs in August, and this change will ensure that students take advantage of educational opportunities. Colleges, too, will begin their academic year on August 1, 2025, by the new guidelines.
Looking Ahead: Future of Sindh’s Education System
These changes represent a significant step toward refining Sindh’s academic structure. The Education and Literacy Department aims to minimize disruptions and ensure students’ progress without unnecessary hurdles by reducing the syllabus and aligning exam schedules with the new academic calendar. Above all, these revisions seek to create a more balanced and efficient system supporting student learning and institutional coordination.
Students and educators can make the most of these changes by staying informed and prepared. Remember, communication is key to effectively navigating the new academic calendar!
